My name is Kaarina Sorvali, and I live in Kouvola with my young daughter. I graduated from the University of Helsinki in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Italian and Russian languages. I am also a qualified Finnish as a Second Language (S2) teacher.
I have taught Finnish in basic education for adults, adult upper secondary education, comprehensive school, and private settings. I have taught Italian and Russian in adult education.
In my teaching, I aim to move away from a ”grammar-first” mindset toward a more practical approach to teaching and learning. What can the student do with the resources they already have? How can I help the student move forward?
As a teacher, I am warm and have a good sense of humour, yet I am also precise.
